Nomzamo Xhontelo, a 55-year-old mother, has been with Monkeybiz since 2002. She learned beading from Nomhle Mdiba, a former Monkeybiz beader. Originally from Lady Frere in the Eastern Cape, Nomzamo now resides in Samora Machel. She finds beading to be a form of meditation, helping her forget life’s problems and reducing stress. For Nomzamo, Monkeybiz has been instrumental in alleviating poverty, allowing her to lead a more secure life.
