Phumla Mramba, a 51-year-old mother, has been part of the Monkeybiz community for 22 years. She learned to bead from Makatiso Ngaka and hails from Mount Frere in the Eastern Cape, though she now resides in Khayelitsha, Zwelitsha. Phumla appreciates the flexibility that beading with Monkeybiz offers, as she can work from home and receive immediate payment for her creations, without having to wait until month-end for income.
