Nomthandazo
Nyhontso

Born 1985, Centane, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

Nomthandazo lives in Khayelitsha with her 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls. Nomthandazo came to Cape Town in 1993 and loves to go home whenever she can. She loves to cook and her favourite meal is pap and meat. When she isn’t beading she loves to do washing and clean her home.

Ukhuliswe kanjani?
Ndikuliswe nzima uMama wam ephangela emakhitshini yena uTata wam ebiya igadi ukuze sikwazi ukufunda.

Any stories of your upbringing? What was your upbringing like?
I was raised very well by my mum, who worked in the kitchen, and my father, who was building yards for other people so that my siblings and myself could get an education.

Thandiswa Qabazi.

How were you introduced to beading?
I learnt bead work from Thandiswa Qabazi.

Yintoni ekukhuthazayo ebomini?
Ngumsebenzi wam wezandla endiwenzayo no kukwazi omnye umntu ndifunede kuye.

What inspires you in life?
In my life I am inspired by the artwork which I am creating, the people I know and learning from them.

Kukukhuthazwa kandenze kahle ndiphiwe i-award.

What do you love about beading?
What I love about beading is when I bead very well I get awarded Beader of the Month.

Kuba ndingumntu obathandayo abantu ongayifuniyo into emi othanda uxolo ngalolonke ixhesha.

What do you want to be known for?
I want to be known for being a person who loves people. I don’t like bad things, I love peace all the time.
