Born in Mount Fletcher in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
I am from Mount Fletcher in the Eastern Cape in a village called Luzi. I came to Cape Town in the year 1991. Many years I was struggling to find a job, so leant how to do beadwork making traditional jewellery. Then I was introduced to Monkeybiz and started doing the beaded animals which I’m still making today.
Let’s hear from Mantshepiseng:
What do you like about your work?
I really love doing beadwork it helps me financial. I was able to send my daughter to university of Stellenbosh with my Monkeybiz income. Monkeybiz means a lot to me and my family, because I would have gone back to Easter Cape if I did not come across such a great project.
What do you like and why?
I like myself, because I am a strong woman if I want something I give my all and tell myself that I will get it nothing is going to stop me.
What can you not leave without and why?
For me I cannot leave without my family, money, food, water and electricity those are the main important things these days.
What are your goals?
My goal is to start my own business and build a bigger house for my family
