Let’s hear from Joyce:

Ukhuliswe kanjani?
Any stories of your upbringing? What was your upbringing like?

I grew up with both of my parents and my siblings but it was very hard for me because my mum didn’t like me and treated me differently from the other children. I used to stay at other people’s homes because there was no peace for me at my own home.

Ngubani wakwazisa ngentsimbi?
How were you introduced to beading?

I was introduced to the Monkeybiz studio and offices by Makutloano Bless. I was already making the beaded dolls and giving them to Dainer to sell for me but I had never been shown the actual studio before.

Yintoni ekukhuthazayo ebomini?
What inspires you in life?

The peace that I have found in myself after my upbringing is what inspires me in life.

Yintoni oyithandayo kakhulu ukukhlohla intsimbi?
What do you love about beading?

I enjoy bead work because I gain new knowledge all the time and I am always doing different things.

Yintoni ofuna abantu bayazingawe?
What do you want to be known for?

I love to have conversations with people, share jokes so that the people around me are always laughing. I love to look beautiful all the time.
